Revolutionary Concept of Developing Eye Donation Infrastructure - “Integrated Hub”

One revolutionary idea envisioned by Run For Vision Foundation under the guidance of Mr. Ashok Mahindru is Integrated Hub in a big city/town. We used our decades worth of experience both as an business visionary and philanthropist to develop this most cost effective model. Under this model:

One central eye care unit attached to a Full Fledged Eye Hospital

Associated Remote Centers (9-10) for Primary Eye Treatment and Donation

Linked through equipped Mobile Vans with Trained Medical Staff

Functions of each unit in Integrated Hub:

    1. Remote primary eye treatment and eye donation unit to carry out:
  • 10-20 primary OPDs per day
  •  30-40 weekly full OPDs with the help of mobile unit
  • 1500 refractive error corrections & extensive OPDs
  • Retrieve and preserve corneas when donated (up to 50 in a year)
  • Refer extensive care and surgery patients to central unit

    2. Central eye bank and extensive care unit attached to a complete eye hospital to carry out:
  •         Functions of the primary eye care and eye donation unit (as above)
  •        Preserve and process donated corneas
  •    Manage two fully equipped mobile units to integrate with remote units

3.    Complete eye hospital attached to the  central  eye bank to carry out:
  • 300 cornea transplants in a year
  •  3000 cataract surgeries in a year
  • 1000 glaucoma, oculoplastic and other surgeries in a year
  • 4500 refractive error corrections & OPDs in a year
